Aldir

Portrayed by Wraith

Before the war, Aldir, age 33, owned a small farm in northern Lossarnach and prided himself on his knowledge of agriculture. Inheriting his father's holdings at the age of 25, he built up the land on both farms until they became very productive. Well on his way to becoming a prosperous farmer at age 29 and feeling that he could offer security, he began to call upon the daughter of another farmer, the fair Lilandra, who was 23 at the time. After a brief courtship, he secured her promise to marry him. After a year's betrothal, they were married in the spring of 3016. The joy in their marriage was boundless, but after three years of marriage, it seemed that they were to be denied the children they wanted.

A quiet, reflective man who enjoyed reading books and smoking his pipe around his own hearth with his beloved Lilandra nearby, Aldir was slow to anger, but once his fury was kindled, few men would dare cross him. More than anything in all the world, he loved his wife and was intensely protective of her.

Becoming alarmed at the increasing threat of Mordor in the spring of 3018, he left his farm in charge of a trusted cousin and his wife and he and Lilandra set off for Minas Tirith, where they bought a small house. Aldir joined the army and by the next year, he obtained the rank of captain.

Before the battle of Pelennor Fields, Lilandra and other civilians had been evacuated from the city and taken to a place of safety. Captured with many other soldiers at the battle, Aldir was herded with others into the slave pens along the Anduin, where his hair and beard were shorn.

Lilandra and other civilians, hearing of the defeat of Pelennor, left the refugee camp and rushed to the battlefield to try to find their fallen, but all were soon captured, herded into slave pens and destined for transfer to the slave plantations of Nurn. On the slave march to Nurn, Lilandra was overjoyed to discover that her husband yet lived. After being branded in Nurn before the slave auction, they were placed on the auction block and Maugoth Vartang, seeing them, bought them as a pair for some design known only to him and his dark Master.
